The Diploma in Human Resource Management at the Somali Institute of Technology and Professional Studies (SITPS) is a comprehensive two-year program designed to prepare students for dynamic careers in HR across both public and private sectors. With a strong focus on practical skills, labor law, and digital tools, this course empowers learners to become HR professionals ready to shape workplace cultures, manage talent, and align human capital strategies with organizational goals.
Semester 1 focuses on building a strong understanding of the basics of HR. Students explore Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, and Business Communication, laying the groundwork for ethical and strategic people management.
In Semester 2, learners dive into HR Planning and Development, Introduction to Employment Law, and Employee Relations — giving them a solid understanding of workforce planning, labor legislation, and conflict resolution techniques.
In Semester 3, the curriculum deepens with units in Training & Development, Performance Appraisal Systems, and Compensation and Benefits. Students are trained to design and evaluate effective training programs, measure employee performance, and structure reward systems that drive motivation.
Semester 4 includes modules on HR Information Systems (HRIS), Strategic Human Resource Management, and a Capstone Research Project. Learners explore how technology supports HR functions and conduct real-world research addressing modern workplace challenges.
Throughout the two years, students engage in role-plays, simulations, and real-life case studies to sharpen their practical judgment and workplace readiness.
To ensure smooth transition into the job market, students are placed in HR departments of reputable companies during the final semester. This provides hands-on experience in recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee engagement, and disciplinary procedures.
Assessment is done through group assignments, quizzes, written tests, presentations, and final projects. Upon completion, students are awarded the Diploma in HRM, certified by SITPS and recognized by both local and international bodies.
