Course Overview: Arabic Language Program (Level A – Level F)

The Arabic Language Program at the Somali Institute of Technology and Professional Studies (SITPS) is a comprehensive and immersive journey into the world of Arabic communication. Designed for learners of all backgrounds, the course spans six distinct levels, from foundational understanding to advanced proficiency. Each level targets key linguistic skills: speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural understanding. Lessons are delivered on-demand, supported by experienced online tutors dedicated to guiding learners through each stage of their Arabic mastery. Per level is 3 Months


🔤 Level A1 – Beginner

Objective: Introduce learners to the Arabic script, basic vocabulary, and essential communication. Topics Covered:

  • Arabic Alphabet and Correct Pronunciation
  • Harakat (Short vowels and reading symbols)
  • Introducing oneself: Name, nationality, and age
  • Basic greetings and social expressions
  • Numbers, days, months, and telling time
  • Simple present tense verbs and sentence structure
  • Everyday topics: Family, food, school, home
  • Asking and answering yes/no questions

Outcomes: Students complete this level with the ability to read and write basic Arabic, hold simple conversations, and comprehend short, clear speech.

Objective: Strengthen vocabulary and grammar to communicate everyday needs and describe situations. Topics Covered:

  • Expanded vocabulary (weather, shopping, health, etc.)
  • Grammar: Gender, plurals, adjectives, and possession
  • Simple past tense verbs and sentence agreement
  • Talking about likes, dislikes, and routines
  • Ordering food, making purchases, asking for help
  • Describing people and places
  • Basic dialogues and storytelling

Outcomes: Students gain confidence in handling day-to-day interactions and understanding short texts and audio materials.


📚 Level B1 – Pre-Intermediate

Objective: Develop fluency in everyday scenarios and begin engaging with written texts and media. Topics Covered:

  • Intermediate grammar (prepositions, connectors, future tense)
  • Writing short messages, emails, and diary entries
  • Understanding and discussing basic stories and articles
  • Role-plays: At the doctor, booking a hotel, using transport
  • Describing past experiences and future plans
  • Comprehending moderate-speed conversations

Outcomes: Students can narrate past events, express opinions, and understand slightly complex conversations and written content.


🧠 Level B2 – Intermediate

Objective: Expand grammar, cultural literacy, and the ability to sustain conversations and write structured texts. Topics Covered:

  • Complex sentence structures and relative clauses
  • Expressing emotions, opinions, doubt, and suggestions
  • Reading and analyzing short articles and dialogues
  • Writing descriptive and opinion-based paragraphs
  • Engaging in thematic discussions: education, work, environment
  • Exposure to Arabic dialects and formal/informal differences

Outcomes: Learners achieve independent communication in work, travel, and social contexts. They begin interpreting news and short media clips.


📝 Level C1 – Upper Intermediate

Objective: Achieve confident and accurate use of Arabic in professional and academic settings. Topics Covered:

  • Advanced grammar: conditional statements, passive voice
  • Reading and summarizing newspaper articles and essays
  • Writing formal letters, emails, and reports
  • Participating in debates and structured discussions
  • Exploring cultural idioms, poetry, and religious texts
  • Listening to documentaries, interviews, and lectures

Outcomes: Students are prepared for professional use of Arabic, capable of expressing detailed arguments and producing high-quality written texts.

Objective: Reach native-like fluency, refine stylistic expression, and confidently engage with complex texts and speech. Topics Covered:

  • In-depth grammar and stylistic nuances

  • Writing essays, reports, and analytical papers
  • Advanced listening comprehension across dialects and registers
